Bir römorkör ve yüzer duba, Volvo L260H lastikli yükleyiciyi İsviçre Bern Kanronu'ndaki Thun Gölü üzerinden AG Balmholz'a ait bir taş ocağına teslim etmek için kullanıldı. 35 tonluk Volvo L260H tekerlekli yükleyici, İsviçreli taş ocağı firması için Volvo Construction Equipmenr'in (Volvo CE) sunduğu ilk makine olurken hızlı bir şekilde çalışmaya başladı.

Alpler'in Bern eteklerinde, Thun Gölü'nün sarp kuzey kıyısındaki taş ocağı, mal ve madencilik malzemelerinin taşınmasını zorlaştırıyor. Dolambaçlı göl yolu, (günlük geziciler ve motosikletçiler arasında popüler olan) rota, sınırlı bir yol sunuyor. Bu yüzden lastikli yükleyici karayoluyla taşınamadı.
Taş ocağı: İsviçre’ye özel, yüksek basınca dayanıklı sert kaya kaynağı sağlayan on taş ocağından yalnızca biridir. AG Balmholz her yıl yaklaşık 250.000 ton sert kaya çıkarıyor ve bu malzeme, hidrolik mühendisliği, demiryolu balastları, talaşlar ve kırılmış kum için bloklar halinde işleniyor. AG Balmholz, lastikli yükleyiciyi değiştirme zamanı gelmeden önce, önümüzdeki on yıl boyunca yılda yaklaşık 1.000 çalışma saati kullanmayı planlıyor.

Floating wheeled loader
A tugboat and floating pontoon have been used to deliver a Volvo L260H wheeled loader across Lake Thun in the Swiss Canton of Bern to the quarry owned by AG Balmholz. The 35-ton Volvo L260H wheel loader is the first machine from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) for the Swiss quarrying firm – and the machine was very quickly put to work.Its exceptional location in the Bernese foothills of the Alps, on the steep northern shore of Lake Thun makes transportation of goods and mining materials to and from the quarry a challenge. Although accessible via the winding lake road that runs between Thun and Interlaken, the route which is popular with day trippers and motorcyclists, is limited to loads of 34 tons. So, no chance to transport the wheel loader by road. The quarry is just one of only ten in the whole of Switzerland to provide a valuable source of a special dense, compact and high pressure-resistant hard rock. Every year, the workforce at AG Balmholz extract around 250,000 tons of hard rock, which is processed into blocks for hydraulic engineering, railway ballasts, chippings and crushed sand. Much of this material is transported to customers throughout Switzerland on ships across the water to Thun, where it is offloaded and then transported by rail. AG Balmholz plans to use the wheel loader for around 1,000 operating hours per year for the next 10 years, before it will be time to replace it.
